Official 2019 End of Year Review Empty Official 2019 End of Year Review

Mon Dec 16, 2019 1:29 am
So its a new year and I felt the need to actually write this one out.

-Coverage-
This years winners on coverage are T-Mobile and Verizon, but only because they actually posted exactly how many people are covered by their network.
(AT&T also covers 99% of Americans, but AT&T only boasts the 99%, without the actual coverage numbers, so we had to guestimate.)

So I will say they are all tied, with T-Mobile and Verizon only a fraction ahead for showing actual numbers.

Which puts Sprint in Second Place, covering over 300 Million Americans (91% of the Population) as of the latest info we could find (dated in 2016).

-RootScore-
The RootMetrics RootSores from 2nd Half 2019 are as follows:
Verizon: 94.6
AT&T : 93.2
T-Mobile: 86.5
Sprint: 83.2

-JD Power Awards-
The Number of JD Power awards given this year go to:
Verizon 12
T-Mobile 6
Metro by T-Mobile 1
Consumer Cellular 3
U.S. Cellular 1
Cricket 2

-OpenSignal Experience Awards-
January 2020, USA Report
Video Experience: Verizon
Voice App Experience: T-Mobile and AT&T
Download Speed Experience: AT&T
Upload Speed Experience: T-Mobile
Latency Experience: AT&T
4G Availability: Verizon
4G Coverage Experience: Verizon

-Subscribers-
This years winner for subscriber base is AT&T, boasting 162 Million
Verizon is in second place with their 118 Million subscribers.
T-Mobile is in 3rd place with their  83 Millions subscribers.
Sprint again is trailing behind, only 54 Million subscribers.

-MVNOs-
This award goes to the carrier with the most MVNO Carriers.
Note: The subscriber counts above may include the MVNO Carriers.

Sprint is in the lead with their Subsidiary Boost Mobile and 35 Independent MVNOs.
T-Mobile is in 2nd place with their Subsidiary Metro by T-Mobile and 32 Independent MVNOs.
AT&T and Verizon are tied in 3rd place with their Subsidiaries Cricket (AT&T), Visible (Verizon), and 25 Independent MVNOs each.

As to noting that some carriers were historically not so nice with MVNO carriers, this is rather refreshing to see that all carriers now offer wholesale leases to at least 20 other companies.

-Plans-
The winner for Cheapest Unlimited Plan goes to a brand new player in the game:
Hello Mobile (MVNO of Sprint)

For offering Unlimited Everything for only $25 a month!

The following Carriers have all been listed for having the best plan for various price points, starting with the lowest cost:
